When reporting a problem, it’s helpful to include:

Your iPhone model and iOS version
What you were doing (scanning, designing, publishing, browsing)
What you expected, and what happened instead

Reporting Content or Moderation Concerns

Dormroom DesignAR includes community-shared floor plans and notes. To report a problem with shared content:

In the app: tap the ⋯ menu on any note to report it (hidden for you immediately and reviewed promptly) or to block that publisher entirely.
Urgent moderation concerns: open a GitHub Issue with the room’s university, building, and floor. Reports are reviewed regularly and violating content is removed for all users.

You can delete anything you’ve published — rooms or notes — from within the app at any time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a special iPhone to scan? Live room scanning uses the LiDAR sensor on iPhone 12 Pro or later (Pro models). Any supported iPhone can browse rooms, design from templates, and use registries.

How accurate are the scans? Typically within an inch or two per wall. Every scan gets a review step where you can check any wall against a tape measure and correct it with a tap — mirrors and glass can occasionally confuse the sensor.

Do I have to publish my scan? No. Scan a room, keep it private, and design away — private scans stay on your device and never reach the community database. Publishing is always an explicit choice you can make later, or never.

Is my room number shared? Only if you choose to include it. You can publish a room as just “building + floor” and it’s still useful to future residents.

Is it really free? Yes — free for students, no account, no tracking, and that won’t change. Product links open retailer websites and may earn the app a commission at no cost to you; if a product placement is ever sponsored, it’s labeled. Fit-check results are never influenced by sponsorship.
